TONY DUNGY IS RIGHT ABOUT MICHAEL SAM

 A few days ago former Super Bowl winning head coach Tony Dungy stated that he would have not drafted University of Missouri defensive tackle Michael Sam due to the fact the he will be the first openly gay player in the National Football League. I don't think Dungy is worried about Sam being gay it's the media circus that surrounds Sam's sexual orientation  Coinbase.

 

I'll say this now, I one hundred percent agree with Tony Dungy's comments in regards to Michael Sam. Whether you want to believe it or not issues such as this can tear apart a team locker room. If the team's best players are not mature enough to handle situations such as this one they can become jealous and make statements that they will later regret in the future.

 

It is the goal of every head coach to have a locker room that is one hundred percent free of distractions. Cohesion is crucial with any team in the National Football League; a player that was drafted in the last round of the NFL Draft does not deserve that kind of press from the media.

 

It would be different if the Rams were a perennial Super Bowl contender year in and year out however that's not the case with this organization. The Rams have not seen the postseason since 2003, right now they are banking on their loaded roster on defense to catapult them into the postseason.

 

So far the current players on the Rams roster have not had any issues with media circus that Sam will bring during training camp. In no way am I against Sam's sexual orientation I could care less all I want to know is can he perform at the next level. I have one issue with Dungy though it was a day later I believe that he tried to backtrack from what he said but why would he do that.

 

He was asked to give his opinion on this particular issue and he expressed it. I feel like it's a double standard when someone is asked to express their opinion on homosexuality or anything that may involve the lifestyle and when the media does not get the response that they were looking for they try to twist it around in the newspapers.
